Yes, I’m still alive. It was a rough week, so I stepped back from blogging briefly. Saturday is one of my favorite days—Alabama football fills the weekend with energy—so I’m ready to rejoin the living and share what’s going on.
We have tickets to tonight’s game.
First on the agenda is a big family brunch with Mark and Mona. What began as a casual “come eat some breakfast before the game” has become a proper gathering. Mona works for a large textile company and organizes upscale tailgating—think linen napkins on the Quad. She has managed these elaborate setups for years and has a love-hate relationship with the whole process. On most Saturdays she’s up at the Quad at 6 a.m. setting everything up, but this weekend she’s able to relax, so she and I sat down back in July to plan the football-weekend schedule. This one is designated the family brunch weekend.
I’m bringing a breakfast casserole and an apple coffee cake, and I’ll pick up a Robertson’s ham—those are legendary in our family. With good food and great company, it promises to be a wonderful morning.
Have a happy Saturday!
