Using the Blackstone Deep Dish Pizza Kit and an outdoor pizza oven opens up lots of possibilities—dips, casseroles, and loaded tots are just a few. This recipe uses seasoned ground beef, tater tots, and plenty of cheese and toppings for a fun appetizer or main.

How to Make Blackstone Pizza Oven Taco Loaded Tots

Topping ideas for loaded tots are endless. For this taco version you’ll need ground beef seasoned with taco seasoning, shredded cheese, and your favorite taco toppings.

Preheat your Blackstone griddle to medium. Add 1 pound of ground beef and cook 2–3 minutes, breaking it up with spatulas. Season with kosher salt, pepper, and plenty of taco seasoning. Cook another 2–3 minutes until cooked through, then remove and set aside.

Place a thawed 28-ounce bag of frozen tater tots in the cast iron dish from the Deep Dish Pizza Kit and sprinkle additional taco seasoning over the top. Preheat the Blackstone outdoor pizza oven to 500°F with the pizza stone rotating. Slide the dish into the oven using the removable handle, rotate the stone, and cook for 5 minutes, rotating as needed.

Remove the dish, sprinkle half the shredded cheese over the tots, add the seasoned taco meat, then top with the remaining cheese. Return to the pizza oven for 1–2 minutes until the cheese melts. Carefully remove and place on the wooden trivet from the pizza kit.

Top with your favorite taco-style garnishes—sour cream, shredded lettuce, cilantro, jalapeños, pickled red onions (optional), and hot sauce or taco sauce. Slice or serve family-style straight from the cast iron dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • Kosher salt, pepper, and taco seasoning blend of choice (I used Blackstone Street Taco seasoning)
  • 1 (28-ounce) bag frozen tater tots, thawed
  • 2 cups shredded cheese of choice
  • Toppings: sour cream, shredded lettuce, cilantro, jalapeños, pickled red onions, hot sauce or taco sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat griddle to medium. Add ground beef and cook 2–3 minutes, breaking it apart with spatulas.
  2. Season with kosher salt, pepper, and plenty of taco seasoning. Cook 2–3 more minutes, then remove and set aside.
  3. Preheat the outdoor pizza oven to 500°F with the rotating pizza stone. Place tots in the cast iron dish and sprinkle additional taco seasoning on top.
  4. Slide the dish into the oven, rotate the stone, and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove the dish, add half the cheese, top with taco meat, then add the remaining cheese. Return to the oven 1–2 minutes until cheese melts.
  6. Top with sour cream, shredded lettuce, cilantro, jalapeños, pickled red onions, hot sauce, or taco sauce as desired. Serve hot.
